Wayne Rooney: Former Manchester United and Everton man believes he has the quality to play in the Premier League

Wayne Rooney claims he still possesses the quality to play in the Premier League after proving some of his critics wrong with how well he has done in the USA.

The former Manchester United and Everton captain left the Premier League to join MLS side DC United in June 2018.

He helped them achieve a huge turnaround, scoring 12 goals and supplying seven assists in 20 appearances for the club as United narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs.

Rooney’s efforts saw him get named a finalist for the league’s Most Valuable Player award.

Speaking to CNN, Rooney said he never doubted himself and believes he still has what it takes to play Premier League football.

He said: “If I’m being honest, quality wise I can still play in the Premier League.

“I know that, I’ve always been a confident person, so I have high expectations of myself.

“I came here expecting to do well, I think there was a surprise from people who had their opinions which is fair enough but I never doubted myself.”
