Tottenham set to rival Manchester United with £50million bid for Bournemouth star David Brooks – reports

Tottenham are preparing a £50million summer bid for Bournemouth star David Brooks in the hope of beating Manchester United to his signature, reports claim.

The 21-year-old is wanted by a host of clubs following a spectacular start to life in the Premier League.

Spurs were reportedly interested in the midfield sensation last summer, when he ended up joining the Cherries from Sheffield United for just £11.5million.

But now, according the Daily Mirror, Spurs are determined to get their man and will renew their interest in the summer with a huge bid.

Brooks, who recently starred in Bournemouth’s 4-0 demolition of Chelsea, has six goals and four assists in the league this season.

He’s in the running to be named PFA Young Player of the Year, although an untimely ankle injury will rule him out for the next month.

Spurs recently became the first club in Premier League history to go two consecutive transfer windows without signing any players and manager Mauricio Pochettino has often rued the club’s lack of funds compared to other top six teams.

It is understood Man United also regularly check on the Welshman’s progress and could launch a summer bid of their own.
