Heung-min Son is adamant Tottenham Hotspur can still win the Premier League title this season.
Spurs remain seven points adrift of league leaders Liverpool but are now just two points off second place Manchester City.
Son returned from international duty at the Asian Cup early after South Korea were knocked out of the quarter-final to help inspire a 2-1 win against Watford in his first game back to give the north London club a boost after FA Cup and Carabao Cup exits in the same week.
“I don’t care that people are saying Liverpool or Man City,” Son said when asked about the title race. ‘We are still there, we’re going for it.
“We’ll see what is going to happen at the end of the season. They’re very good sides like us. We have to just focus on ourselves. Every single game, get three points, that’s most important. The season is still long.
“We don’t want to think about it. So many things can happen, you can’t even imagine.
“We just believe in our own games, get as many points as possible, and see what happens at the end of the season.”
Son watched Spurs while away with South Korea as they crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Chelsea then the FA Cup by Crystal Palace.
“It hurt like you can’t even imagine,” Son added. “I must follow, if I don’t follow I can’t sleep! They were on TV. The Premier League, it’s everywhere in the world.
“When I saw the Fulham game we scored in the last minute, I was happy but also Dele was injured. It hurt.”
