Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United: Martin Dubravka has lucky escape after huge chunk of ice narrowly misses his head

Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka had a lucky escape at Wembley ahead of kick-off against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Dubravka was warming up on the pitch when a large chunk of ice narrowly missed his head and smashed onto the grass beside him.

The sub-zero temperatures had evidently caused ice to form on the Wembley roof and was falling towards the playing surface.

Sky Sports’ cameras captured the incident ahead of kick-off.

Lucky to escape serious injury, Dubravka was later at fault for the goal that cost Newcastle a point against Spurs.

Heung-Min Son’s 83rd minute strike found its way under the Solvakian’s body when it should have been a routine save.

Tottenham took their chance to move ahead of Manchester City, who play Arsenal on Sunday, into second place in the Premier League and are four points behind leaders Liverpool, who face West Ham on Monday night.

Meanwhile, Newcastle could have moved above Crystal Palace with a point at Wembley but the goal seven minutes from time prevented that.
