SQUADS & TEAM NEWS

Zidane has so far used a star-studded team in the competition and is likely to do so again in his chase for silverware.

Ronaldo – who to become the tournament’s all-time top scorer with six goals following his strike against Al Jazira – will almost certainly start the game, with Bale joining him in the XI after his contribution as a substitute.

Potential starting XI: Navas; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Vazquez, Kroos, Modric, Asensio; Bale, Ronaldo

The Brazilians are likely to stick with the team which progressed into the final, with Barrios set to lead the attack.

Everton, who scored the winning goal last time out having come on as a 75th minute substitute, will be pushing for a spot in the starting XI.

Potential starting XI: Grohe; Edilson, Geromel, Kannemann, Bruno Cortez; Jailson, Michel, Ramiro, Fernandinho, Luan; Barrios

GAME PREVIEW

It took Gremio 95 minutes to break the deadlock in their semi-final meeting with Pachucha, with winger Everton proving the match-winner.

The Brazilian outfit face a considerably more difficult task this weekend in Real, and Zidane will be confident in steering his side to the trophy.

While the competition is far from the Spaniards’ top priority, it’ll serve as a welcome break from life in La Liga where they find themselves seven points behind Barcelona after just 15 games.

This will be the first time Real and Gremio have ever faced each other in a competitive match and there could hardly be more at stake for both sides.
