Peter Crouch: Former England striker joins Burnley with Sam Vokes heading to Stoke

Burnley have completed the signing of Peter Crouch from Stoke City.

Crouch’s transfer from Stoke also sees Sam Vokes head the other way on a three-and-a-half-year deal, worth a reported £8million.

The 6ft 7ins striker is joining the Turf Moor club on a short-term deal which expires at the end of the season.

The 38-year-old former England international has been at Stoke, who were relegated to the Championship last season, since leaving Tottenham in 2011.

Burnley are four points above the relegation zone and host Southampton, one of Crouch’s former clubs next.

Crouch’s Premier League record

Games: 462
Goals: 108
Assists: 58
Clubs: Tottenham, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Southampton, Portsmouth, Stoke
England honours: 42 games, 22 goals

Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood have scored nine Premier League goals between them and Crouch would provide useful back up for Sean Dyche’s side as he attempts to keep Burnley in the top division.

Crouch has played 23 Championship games this season, scoring once, but just two of those appearances have been starts.

Stoke will add Wales international Vokes to their ranks, on the back of him scoring three goals in 20 Premier League appearances this term.

The 29-year-old joined Burnley from Wolves in 2012, having already had a loan spell at Turf Moor.
