Marouane Fellaini transfer latest: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides update on Manchester United midfielder’s move to China

Marouane Fellaini’s move from Manchester United to China has not yet gone through, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

Fellaini looks set to move to Shandong Luneng on a permanent basis after the Chinese Super League side agreed a deal with Man United to sign the Belgium midfielder.

He is alleged to have already completed a medical with the club, and was pictured at the airport on Thursday ahead of flying to China to pen personal terms.

Shandong Luneng had no need to rush through the deal before Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline as the winter window for Chinese Super League clubs remains open until the end of February, rather than the end of January.

And Solskjaer confirmed on Friday morning that Fellaini’s exit is yet to officially go through.

Speaking in a press conference, United’s interim manager said: “Nothing’s confirmed there yet, so obviously what I talk to players about would have to be between the two of us.

“We had good discussions, obviously he got injured so we spoke about that but nothing’s confirmed so I can’t say more, really.”

United stayed away from transfer business throughout January, though one big deal was announced on deadline day.

Anthony Martial’s contract extension was a cause for celebration for the Old Trafford faithful, and Solskjaer discussed the new and improved deal that keeps the France international with United until 2024.

“It’s a confirmation that we are happy with him,” Solskjaer added. “We believe in him because he’s got fantastic potential. He’s had some ups and downs at the club – he’s been top scorer, he’s been developing.

“Of course as a young lad moving abroad it’s not easy, but now he knows he’s going to stay here for the coming future and we believe in him. I certainly believe in him.”
