Manchester City vs Chelsea: Blues will equal unwanted away record if they lose and fail to score at the Etihad

Chelsea could equal an unwanted record this weekend when they play Manchester City.

The Blues have not lost three away games on the bounce without scoring for 27 years.

But, having lost 2-0 to Arsenal and Bournemouth putting four goals past them without reply, Maurizio Sarri’s men face an in-form City side who have kept seven clean sheets in their last nine games while scoring for fun.

Chelsea’s last wretched run away from home, which spanned four games, came in December 1991 when they lost to Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Notts County and Luton, conceding eight goals and scoring none.

Manchester United are expected to beat relegation-threatened Fulham on Saturday, which would take them ahead of Chelsea and into fourth place.

It would pile all the pressure on the Blues to get a positive result at the Etihad where Sergio Aguero has scored 11 goals in 11 Premier League games this season, including two hat-tricks.

Chelsea will be hoping history does not repeat itself.
