Look away now, Arsenal fans… Unai Emery’s record against Pep Guardiola is not great.
In 11 meetings against the Man City boss, Emery has won ZERO, drawn four and lost seven.
He will be looking to make it 12th time lucky against his opposite number when his Arsenal side travel to Manchester City on Sunday.
Their head-to-head record stretches back to their time in Spain when Emery was in charge of Valencia and Guardiola was at Barcelona. They have also already faced each other in the Premier League.
2008/09: Barcelona 4-0 Valencia, Valencia 2-2 Barcelona
2009/10: Valencia 0-0 Barcelona, Barcelona 3-0 Valencia
2010/11: Barcelona 2-1 Valencia, Valencia 0-1 Barcelona
2011/12: La Liga: Valencia 2-2 Barcelona, Barcelona 5-1 Valencia
Copa del Rey: Valencia 1-1 Barcelona, Barcelona 2-0 Valencia.
2018/19: Arsenal 0-2 Manchester City
Overall record:

Guardiola’s City were Emery’s first opponents in English football when they ruined his debut by winning 2-0 at Arsenal in August.
And Emery has called Guardiola the best manager in the world ahead of the Gunners’ trip to the Etihad.
He said: “I have analysed a lot of teams and coaches and I think it’s difficult to find one coach who is better than Guardiola.
“His career is a very big career. We started together. He started with the Barcelona’s second team, I started with Lorca and Almeria [in Spain’s third and second tiers].
“I learned a lot looking at his team – it’s good to look at each other when we are coaches to learn different things between us. I think in his career he’s doing the best in all the coaches in the world.
“He has had the possibility to take the best players at Barcelona, in Bayern and in City, little by little.
“He is, every year, improving with great players and also paying a lot for some players. But he led them, at Barcelona, Bayern and City, one step more every place.
“This, for me, is the quality that makes me say he is the best.”
