Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero admits his third goal against Arsenal WAS handball and should not have counted

Sergio Aguero admitted his third goal against Arsenal should not have been allowed to stand as it was handball.

The Argentine striker was at his devastating best against the Gunners, netting his tenth Premier League hat trick to secure a 3-1 win.

Aguero, who opened the scoring after just 46 seconds, netted all three from close range as City bounced back from their midweek defeat Newcastle with a convincing display at the Etihad Stadium.

However, there was some contention over his third and final strike, which appeared to hit the striker’s arm before trickling into the net.

And, speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the 30-year-old admitted he did accidentally handle the ball.

He said: “I honestly thought it was my chest, but now I have seen it on the TV it was handball.

“I thought it was nine [hat-tricks], but it’s good that it’s 10. I’m very happy, but more important than scoring, it’s important to win.”

Title rivals Liverpool will be hoping for just as much fortune when they face West Ham United on Monday night at the London Stdaium.

A victory in the East End will increase the Reds’ advantage at the top of the table back to five points.
