Leeds United troll former Stoke City boss Gary Rowett with hilarious tweet

Leeds have reminded Gary Rowett what happens when you write them off after the former Stoke boss claimed the Whites may fall short in their title bid.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are currently level on points with Championship leaders Norwich in their bid to seal a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

However, they’ve lost four of their last six games, and Rowett, who was recently sacked by Stoke, questioned whether Leeds can maintain their high-octane philosophy all season.

He said: “When you’re a team that relies on that energy so much, you wonder whether they can maintain it.”

Stoke were the pre-season favourites for the Championship title, but a hugely disappointing first half of the season saw Rowett sacked with the Potters languishing in mid-table.

His first task at the club was a trip to Elland Road on the opening day of the season, which ended in a comprehensive 3-1 defeat.

Before the game, Rowett reminded Leeds the odds were hugely stacked in his favour – a comment which has aged terribly.

After reading what the Englishman had to say about their title bid, Leeds posted Rowett’s comments on their Twitter page alongside the caption: “Hopefully we’ve got the same odds as that first game of the season.”
