Henrikh Mkhitaryan injury latest: Arsenal star provides positive update – will he face Huddersfield this weekend?

Henrikh Mkhitaryan made his Arsenal comeback earlier this week having missed a host of games with a foot injury, turning out for the club’s U23s side.

The Armenian ace was forced off at half-time during the Gunners’ Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham on December 19 and has been sidelined ever since.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger is now training again with the first team and faced West Ham in a Premier League 2 match on Monday night.

Unai Emery will want to have the 29-year-old back in senior action as his side head into a string of tough games and it would appear that he will return soon.

What games has he missed?

Mkhitaryan has missed 10 Arsenal matches to date, including the Premier League defeats at Liverpool, West Ham and Manchester City.

The Gunners were without him for their recent top-flight win over Chelsea and the FA Cup fourth round exit to his former club Manchester United.

What games should he be back for?

Mkhitaryan did not make the squad for last weekend’s Premier League defeat at City.

He is now back in full training and should be fit and available for Saturday’s top-flight trip to Huddersfield.

What has he said?

Mkhitaryan made his return from injury in Monday’s U23s Premier League 2 match against West Ham.

He helped the Gunners to a 3-0 lead at half-time but the game was abandon in the second half due to bad weather.

He said: “I’m very happy. I hope that I won’t have any more injuries and I will keep playing.

“I’m thankful to everyone who has been working with me. To the medical staff, to the fitness coach and everyone, even to my team-mates. They were supporting me every day.

“It’s life, everything is happening and you can get injured or something like that. I hope that no one gets injured any more and the team can be fully fit for the next games.”
