Harry Kane: Tottenham striker attends Super Bowl and fans poke fun after he touches Vince Lombardi Trophy

Tottenham star Harry Kane managed to get his hands on the Vince Lombardi Trophy after the New England Patriots beat the La Rams in the Super Bowl on Sunday night.

The crocked Spurs striker, who is also a huge Patriots fan, was in America to see the NFL’s Championship game and watched in delight as his team won 13-3.

Before and after the event, Kane met the likes of Tom Brady and Julien Edelman, and shared several photos of the night on Twitter.

“I arrived last night and it’s similar to a World Cup where everyone comes together,” he told BBC Sport.

“I was a huge Tom Brady fan growing up, he was a huge inspiration for me to reach the top.”

However, one post backfired, as fans on social media latched onto an image of the England captain with the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Kane is yet to win a major trophy during his career, something Tottenham’s rivals enjoy highlighting.

And some suggested the 25-year-old had gone to extreme lengths just to get his hands on some silverware, while another pointed out it was good for him to see a completed stadium – a reference to the delay in Spurs’ redeveloped White Hart Lane.

The striker is currently receiving treatment on an ankle injury which was supposed to rule him out until March, however talkSPORT understands he aims to return in time for the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund on February 13.

Speaking on Sunday, he said: “It’s going well. I went away for some warm weather training and we’re stepping it up.

“[We will] see next week how we go, start to get the balls out and just see how the ankle reacts. It’s going well so far, but we have just got to take our time with it and make sure we get it right.

“I never put a time on any of my injuries. It is just about how it feels. The ankle feels great at the moment, so as long as the swelling stays away and we can keep progressing, that would be great.”
