Leon Bailey has been a key member of the Bayer Leverkusen squad since joining from Genk in 2016 and, despite being just 20, has carved out a reputation as one of the brightest prospects in the Bundesliga. The Jamaican forward’s displays have unsurprisingly attracted attention from some of Europe’s bigger clubs, with the player confirming "concrete interest" from Premier League duo Liverpool and Chelsea along with Serie A side Roma. Gareth Bale | Real Madrid | Forward
Gareth Bale has won a Liga title and three Champions Leagues during his time at Real Madrid, scoring plenty of important goals for the Blancos over the course of four seasons. However, due to injuries and poor form, he has been in and out of the team in 2017-18, leading to suggestions that he may be nearing an exit. Bale is valued by the club president Florentino Perez, but did not appear to figure prominently in Zinedine Zidane’s plans. However, the Frenchman's exit may have changed all that. Bale has been a star for Madrid in pre-season, and while Manchester United were reportedly convinced that he would sign with the club before the World Cup, rumours linking the former Spurs man with a move away have died down since Madrid lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. Michy Batshuayi | Chelsea | Forward
Having joined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Chelsea for the second half of the season, Michy Batshuayi has reinvigorated his career and the Bundesliga club are keen to make the move permanent. The Belgium international scored nine goals in 14 games in all competitions for BVB, including seven in 10 Bundesliga appearances before an ankle injury brought an end to his season. Hector Bellerin | Arsenal | Defender
Hector Bellerin came through the ranks at Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy before signing for Arsenal in 2011 and he has established himself as one of the most talented right-backs in the Premier League in the years since. However, like his compatriot Cesc Fabregas before him, Bellerin looks set to make a return home to Barca, who have been monitoring his performances in recent seasons. At just 23, he has a long career ahead, but he could potentially have his head turned by Chelsea or Manchester United, who are reportedly interested as well. After hitting 26 goals in Serie A for Torino in 2016-17, Andrea Belotti saw his name linked with a host of European giants, including Chelsea and Juventus. However, the striker opted to remain at the club, signing a new contract. Belotti has not hit the heights he did last season, but his stock is still well considered and he has firm admirers in Napoli, though the clubs have not been able to agree a price on the forward. Leonardo Bonucci | Juventus | Defender
Defender Leonardo Bonucci swapped Juventus for AC Milan last season only to swap back ahead of the next term. While he helped the Rossoneri to a Europa League finish and a Coppa Italia final, off-field events left the club in a difficult financial position. Bonucci returned to Turin as part of one of the summer's most shocking moves, with Juventus pair Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara moving to Milan. Getty
Julian Brandt | Bayer Leverkusen | Midfielder
Germany international Julian Brandt has risen to prominence in recent seasons as one of the best young talents in the Bundesliga. A goalscoring winger, the Bayer Leverkusen man turned down a move to Liverpool last season, and was reportedly an Arsenal target this summer. However, the 22-year-old penned a new deal in April and his value has soared, making him an expensive option for teams who may have previous seen him as a bargain. Getty Images
Marcelo Brozovic | Inter | Midfielder
Marcelo Brozovic has been one of Inter's key players over the course of the past three seasons and was instrumental as they secured Champions League football for 2018-19. The 25-year-old Croatia international is a tireless performer, whose box-to-box style of play has earned plenty of admirers in Serie A and further afield. Mattia Caldara | AC Milan | Defender
Mattia Caldara spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Atalanta and he had returned to Juventus ahead of the new campaign hoping to nail down a starting place. Thibaut Courtois | Real Madrid | Goalkeeper
The future of Thibaut Courtois had been a source of constant speculation in recent months, but all of that came to an end when the Chelsea goalkeeper was finally sold to Real Madrid on Aug. 8. And he will now line up at the Champions League holders after Madrid agreed a reported €35m (£31m/$40m) fee that will also see Mateo Kovacic spend a year on loan in London. Getty
Matteo Darmian | Manchester United | Defender
When he first joined Manchester United in 2015-16 from Torino, Matteo Darmian flourished under the guidance of Louis van Gaal. However, the Italy international fell behind Antonio Valencia in the pecking order and has not managed to come out from behind the Ecuadorian's shadow. Darmian made just eight Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last term and his Old Trafford nightmare may be over soon, with Inter among the clubs on the lookout for a right-back.
David de Gea | Manchester United | Goalkeeper
David de Gea has firmly established himself as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, as four consecutive PFA Team of the Year places attest, and it now looks as though his time at Manchester United is unlikely to come to a conclusion this summer. The Spain No.1 was painfully close to joining Real Madrid in 2015 only to see the move scuppered by the technological deficiency of a fax machine, and the signing of Thibaut Courtois means Los Blancos have landed the world-class goalkeeper they've been in search of for years. Matthijs de Ligt | Ajax | Defender
Centre-back Matthijs de Ligt is one of the most highly rated teenagers in football thanks to his impressive performances for Ajax. Just 18, De Ligt has already broken into the Netherlands senior squad and he is on Barcelona’s radar as they begin to look to a future without Gerard Pique. However, having signed a long-term deal with Ajax in the summer of 2017 he won’t be cheap and the Dutch outfit will be determined to get their money’s worth. Lucas Digne struggled to make a breakthrough at Barcelona since his arrival at the club from PSG in 2016 and his time at Camp Nou is now over. Touted as the natural heir to Gianluigi Buffon, AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world for a while. The 19-year-old appeared to dispel the notion that he would leave San Siro any time soon by penning a long-term contract last summer, but rumours persist. Getty
Christian Eriksen | Tottenham | Midfielder
While Harry Kane may get the headlines for his goals, one of the chief architects of Tottenham’s success in recent years has undoubtedly been Christian Eriksen. The Denmark international has a proclivity to find the net from set-pieces, either directly or by setting up his team-mates and he has been linked with a range of Europe’s top clubs. Eriksen’s compatriot Yussuf Poulsen has suggested that the midfielder could feasibly replace Andres Iniesta at Barcelona, while reports in Spain have also touted Real Madrid as a destination. Nabil Fekir | Lyon | Forward
France international Nabil Fekir has attracted interest from across Europe following his displays for Lyon in the past season and he was widely tipped to make the move to the Premier League, with Liverpool leading the race for his signature with a £60 million (€68m/$80m) bid. However, that hit a snag, with Lyon revealing that negotiations have broken down. But Fekir could still make a move this summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly looking at possible late swoops, while Lyon coach Bruno Genesio was unable to offer assurances over his future at the club earlier in the week. Olivier Giroud | Chelsea | Forward
A January signing from Arsenal, Olivier Giroud enjoyed a decent half season at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea, usurping Alvaro Morata as the club's first-choice striker. However, with a new boss in the form of Maurizio Sarri at the helm, that will count for little. Giroud signed a short-term deal with the Blues and the 31-year-old looked likely to leave sooner rather than later, with options available in France. However, it now seems as though the World Cup winner is looking for a new deal with Chelsea rather than an exit. Getty
Andre Gomes | Barcelona | Midfielder
After enjoying a successful debut season with Barcelona in 2016-17, Andre Gomes' fortunes declined and he was limited to just six Liga starts as the Blaugrana swept to glory. The former Benfica and Valencia midfielder's stock has fallen considerably over the past year, but he could be offered an avenue out of Camp Nou by Premier League side Everton, who are reported to be on hunt for the midfielder's signature, though a pre-season injury may hurt his chances of finding a move. Eden Hazard | Chelsea | Midfielder
Chelsea’s fortunes in recent years have relied heavily on the form of Eden Hazard, but the Belgium international looked set to leave the club this summer, especially as they will not be competing in the Champions League next season. The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and hinted at a move to the club after the World Cup. But he would command a hefty fee in the region of £100m ($135m) and time is running out for any potential deal, and new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has made strong hints that his star man would stay with the club. Gonzalo Higuain | AC Milan | Forward
The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus cast doubts on the position of Gonzalo Higuain at the club and the Argentina international was indeed on his way out. AC Milan, whose new owners, Elliott, were pondering ways in which to improve the club's prospects, took the striker on a loan deal that also involved Mattia Caldara joining Milan as they bade farewell to Bianconeri-bound defender Leonardo Bonucci. Mauro Icardi | Inter | Forward
Mauro Icardi has been one of the most prolific strikers in Serie A over the course of the past number of seasons and his performances for Inter have earned him the captain’s armband. Icardi has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, while Chelsea are also reportedly interested in a late swoop for the Argentine, who is expected to cost in the region of €110m (£100m/$$129m). N'Golo Kante | Chelsea | Midfielder
The engine room of the Chelsea team, N’Golo Kante has been lauded for his tireless style of play and his reading of the game, attributes that helped both the Blues and previously Leicester City win the Premier League. Now a key member of the World Cup-winning France team, Kante has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and he has been spoken of as a potential recruit for Paris Saint-Germain as they attempt to build a team worthy of winning the Champions League. The Ligue 1 giants are not averse to making big money signings and they would have to part with a figure that could be anywhere in the region of €60-80m (£50-70m/$70-90m), while Jose Mourinho is also thought to have had the midfielder near the top of his list this summer. Kalidou Koulibaly | Napoli | Defender
Kalidou Koulibaly has emerged as one of the best defenders in Serie A with Napoli and his consistency has drawn interest from Chelsea in particular. The 26-year-old has been a target for the Blues for quite some time already and they were hoping to lure him to Stamford Bridge this summer. Mateo Kovacic | Chelsea | Midfielder
Juventus and Manchester United were linked with Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic last summer, but no move materialised and he remained at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, he has not managed to nail down a place in the team, with Casemiro blocking his path. This summer, Kovacic has was linked with a move to the other side of Manchester, but he ended up moving to Chelsea on loan as part of the deal that sent Thibaut Courtois to Madrid. Getty Images

Real Madrid’s World Cup-winning midfielder Toni Kroos has been a key player for Los Blancos since joining from Bayern Munich in 2014 and he played a central role in their back-to-back-to-back Champions League triumphs. As Zinedine Zidane’s side lifted a third continental title in succession it seemed strange to suggest that Kroos could leave, but it remained a possibility, with Manchester United thought to be the Germany international’s chief suitors, though a move away now seems unlikely as the window nears its close in England. One of the best strikers in the world, Robert Lewandowski has excelled for both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, but looked set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer. Real Madrid were said to be keen on the Poland international as they looked to sharpen up their attack and move on from Karim Benzema, while Chelsea had also been linked. Anthony Martial | Manchester United | Forward
The arrival of Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford has had a detrimental impact on Anthony Martial’s Manchester United career and Goal understands that the 22-year-old has given his agent the green light to seek out offers elsewhere. Having joined the Red Devils in a deal worth around £43m ($58m) in 2015, Martial has frequently been reduced to a role on the bench in recent seasons, so it is not too surprising to learn that he is eager for more action. Kylian Mbappe | PSG | Forward
Paris Saint-Germain have deal in place with Monaco to sign Kylian Mbappe on a permanent basis, but the 19-year-old was still drawing looks from other clubs, including Manchester City and Real Madrid. Belgium international Dries Mertens has enjoyed some of the best football of his career at Napoli over the course of the last two seasons, scoring plenty of goals for the Italian club. His performances have seen him linked with a move away and, despite the fact that he will be 31 this summer, his stock is still valued highly. With a release clause of €28m (£25m/$33m), he is relatively affordable for Europe’s top teams and it is not surprising to see that Arsenal and Manchester United have been touted as potential destinations, though both clubs will have to pull off a late swoop to make a deal happen. He may have joined PSG in a world record €222m move from Barcelona just last summer but that has not prevented speculation from swirling around the head of Neymar, whose name was linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United throughout the summer. That is, until he ruled himself out as Ronaldo's heir at Madrid, saying he was "100 per cent staying" with the Ligue 1 side. Atletico Madrid seem to have a habit of identifying world-class goalkeepers and Jan Oblak is the latest to come through the club after David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois. Unfortunately for the Rojiblancos, the Slovenian shot-stopper looks set to follow that pair out of club, though a move away this summer seems less likely after Liverpool, Real Madrid and Chelsea all spent big on new goalkeepers. Benjamin Pavard | Stuttgart | Defender
World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard earned rave reviews as France clinched their second world title this summer and he has become a much-sought-after talent as a result. The Stuttgart defender has been impressive in the Bundesliga, but could be set for a move to the Premier League, with Tottenham said to be among his admirers. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has not been shy about his interest in Inter midfielder Ivan Perisic, regularly attending games involving the Croatia international at both club and international level, an action which inevitably fuels speculation. Paul Pogba | Manchester United | Midfielder
He made a return to Manchester United in a then record €105 million (£89m/$120m) deal from Juventus in 2016, but Paul Pogba's impact at Old Trafford has not been as effective as many would have hoped. The 25-year-old has won the Europa League and EFL Cup with United, but he appears to have struggled to convince Jose Mourinho of his best position. Nicknamed ‘Wonderboy’ by American media, Christian Pulisic has become one of Borussia Dortmund’s best creative talents and his performances for the Bundesliga side have ensured that he has drawn admiring glances from around the continent. Liverpool are believed to be among Pulisic’s chief suitors, though Dortmund have denied that the Reds are interested in signing the 19-year-old. Fulham secured promotion to the Premier League and a huge part of that effort has been Ryan Sessegnon. Remarkably, the flying left-back is just 18 and his performances have earned him recognition from his peers as he was voted into the PFA Championship Team of the Season and named Young Player of the Season. Former Sporting Lisbon man Cedric Soares was reportedly on the radar of Manchester United and Barcelona, but now seems set to stay with the Saints. Soares has taken no part in pre-season action for Southampton, but the club are confident enough in keeping him that there has been talk of him featuring in their Premier League opener despite his lack of training time. Kieran Tierney | Celtic | Defender
Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney is widely considered to be one of the hottest prospects to emerge in Scottish football for years, so it is no surprise to learn that his name is on the radar of a number of high profile clubs. The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, but the Red Devils were said to be put off by Celtic's £25m ($33m) valuation. Since then, Fulham have entered the picture and, as they attempt to avoid relegation from the Premier League, the Cottagers may be more likely to test the resolve of the Scottish champions, though the price may well have scared them off as well. RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has emerged as one of Germany’s brightest young prospects and he already boasts an abundance of experience despite being just 22. His performances in the Bundesliga, Champions League and Confederations Cup have helped to bolster his reputation and it will come as no surprise to learn that he is on Bayern Munich’s radar as the Bavarians prepare for life after Lewandowski. However, Bayern aren’t the only European behemoth said to be monitoring Werner, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Liverpool also linked. Everton were heavily linked with the 25-year-old, along with Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea, but reports suggest that Palace have will be able to hold onto their star man a bit longer.
