Daniel James: Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani reacts as deadline day move for Swansea winger falls through

Leeds United have NOT signed Daniel James on loan from Championship rivals Swansea.

James was due to join on loan for the remainder of the season, with Leeds reportedly set to buy him outright in the summer in the event they won promotion to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old passed a medical on Thursday afternoon but in a dramatic twist of events, the deal fell through much to the disappointment of James and Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani.

Had they won promotion, they would have signed him on a permanent deal in the summer for around £8.5million.

Radrizzani said on Twitter: “I am very disappointed like all of @LUFC fans, we did all we could and accepted all requests…

“But you always need two parties to agree to make a deal and we always had one single target player, none else. We move on and keep fighting in our next 17 finals #MOT Together

Leeds have made two signings in the January window after Kiko Casilla, the goalkeeper, arrived from Real Madrid and Polish youngster Mateusz Bogusz was brought in from Ruch Chorzow.
